The People United Cannot be Divided
Welcome to We the People – Indiana United. Our goal is to be a hub for local activists and organizations. We’re a diverse group of people who are plugged in to different issues and groups around the state, but we primarily believe in equal rights for ALL people.
In our work as activists, we’ve noticed that groups tend to be siloed off—not because they want to, but because everyone is so busy and there are so many things worth fighting for! We want to be a bridge to connect activists and the organizations that need their support.

Why We’re Fighting for Our Vets
Planned cuts of up to 83,000 VA jobs
The Trump administration proposed eliminating up to 83,000 VA positions — nearly 20% of the
workforce. Although scaled back, VA data still show around 30,000 expected losses by FY2025, worsening care shortages.
Veterans Crisis Line Overloaded
By mid-2025, the Veterans Crisis Line had handled 787,000 calls, texts, and chats — with responders forced to manage multiple conversations at once due to understaffing.
Critical Health Programs Slashed or Paused
Trump-era budget cuts targeted nearly 875 VA contracts — including clinical trials for cancer, opioid addiction, and traumatic brain injury. After public outcry, around $2 billion in cuts were paused to preserve essential programs.
VA Staffing Crisis Worsens Access to Care
The VA Inspector General reported over 4,400 severe staffing shortages in FY2025 — a 50% increase from the previous year. These gaps across 40+ job categories have led to longer wait times and reduced access for veterans.
Rising Wait Times and Declining Care Quality
Independent watchdogs and reporters note a reversal of earlier improvements in access. Long waits for mental health and primary care have re-emerged due to hiring freezes, layoffs, and instability across the VA system.
Mortgage Relief Program Eliminated
The VA terminated its Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase (VASP) program in May 2025, which had helped about 20,000 veterans avoid foreclosure. Congress is now working to replace it after reports of widespread housing insecurity.

Get More Involved with We the People – Indiana United
We’re doing the work that so many other groups are doing. If you’ve already found your organizing home in a different group, please come to our events to learn more about what’s going on around the state and be a part of our overall movement.
If you’d like to join us, but have commitments to other protests groups, please sign up! You can be as involved as you’d like. If you find you have some time, go ahead and join in when you can! Most of our members have commitments to a diverse group of organizations, which we believe strengthens us as a whole.
We have retirees, full-time workers, parents, and grandparents on our team. We fully understand that Indiana United cannot be anyone’s full-time commitment, and we’re happy to make the best use of the time you can give us.
If you’re ready to get started, welcome! Please send us an email with your Signal details (if you have them), and if there’s a particular working group you’d like to join. If you have skills or passions you don’t see a place for below, please include them in your email!

About Us
We’re a very new organization, but our members have a long and storied history in protesting around the state. We’ve all fought for human rights, equality, and freedom for decades. The only new part of our fight is us working together under our new name.
We have combat veterans, lifelong Hoosiers, religious people, atheists, trans people, gay people, bi people, straight people, and all sorts of people who believe that our state can do and be better.
Want to join us? Come to one of our protests, which will be the first Saturday of the month, beginning in October. You can also email us at wtpunitedindiana@gmail.com, or reach out to us on our social media.

Our Goals
- Uphold our founding principles and documents, including the Constitution and the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for ALL people.
- Build systems in the government and community that promote and support equality.
- Promote fair elections without interference from big money and help facilitate people voting in them.
- Remove Trump and likeminded state politicians and their policymakers.
- Be a community resource and build connections between existing resources and groups.

“Protest always looks futile at the time it takes place, but protest mounts up.”
